Have you rethought your approach to plain bearings? Have you replaced lubricated metal bearings with lubrication-free plastic plain bearings, linear plain bearings or spherical bearings? Excellent! This sustainability transformation is your ticket to the manus award.
This globally unique competition has been awarding prizes for creative applications using polymer plain bearings since 2003. We offer you a platform for your application and worldwide attention. We also award prize money of up to €5,000.
What are we looking for?
We talk to engineers every day and often hear that the pressure is constantly increasing. It's not just about cost efficiency, but also about continuously improving the carbon footprint of products, for example by dispensing with lubricants. In a recent study with RWTH Aachen University, we were able to demonstrate for the first time how successfully plastic plain bearings tackle both challenges.
That is why we are now particularly interested in finding out how the use of these bearings has impacted your company as part of the 12th manus award.

Procedure
You have until 17 January 2025 to submit your application for the manus award.
Jury meeting
The jury will meet on 19 February to vote on the winners of the 2025 manus award. The selection is based on five categories - idea, function of the plain bearing, savings, impact and differentiation.
Award ceremony
The date of the award ceremony will be announced in good time. All award winners will be informed in advance.
What you can win
All winners can look forward to prize money, a manus trophy and a marketing package worth €10,000. The in-house igus agency will produce a user report in an industry medium (DACH + international) and professional video material on their application.
